SysPharmPedia
The
SysPharmPediA study is part of a large international research
consortium. This means that researchers from Spain, Slovenia, Germany
and the Netherlands work closely together in the field of asthma and
conduct joint asthma research in children.
The
purpose of the SysPharmPedia study
Asthma
is a complex lung disease. Children do not respond equally well to all
asthma medications. Some children still have many medical problems and
it is still not clear why this is the case. "Systemic pharmacology" is
a new field of research. It explores how different systems (including
the immune system, bacteria in our body, and hereditary factors)
together influence how well anti-asthma drugs work. In the
SysPharmPediA study, we want to measure the substances in the exhaled
air, blood, saliva, faeces and nose of children who use medicines for
asthma. We investigate whether biological systems in the body function
differently in children who have many complaints despite medication
compared to children who have few medications.
